About us

Specialty Green Coffee Trader from Peru's Selva Central

Flor de Altura Café is a Peruvian company based in Pichanaqui, Junín (tax ID / RUC 20614458411). We source and export traceable specialty green coffee to importers and roasters, and roast specialty coffee for the Peruvian market.

Origin, step by step

From the coffee farm to the container

Six stages, from the coffee blossom on the slopes of Junín to the container leaving Callao. Traceability from the farm to shipment.

  1. Flowering at 1,700–1,950 m.a.s.l.

On the Andean-Amazonian slopes of Junín, cold nights and sunny days force the coffee tree to ripen slowly. That slowness is what concentrates sugars in the bean.

  2. Under native shade trees

The coffee grows under native guaba and pacae trees, which regulate temperature, protect the soil and fix nitrogen. It is a coffee farm that lives with the forest.

  3. Grown without agrochemicals

The farms are organic certified. Coffee pulp goes back to the soil as compost, pests are kept in check with biological methods and weeds are managed by hand.

  4. Hand-picked, cherry by cherry

Only ripe cherries are picked. Every lot keeps its identity —grower, altitude, variety and process— and each grower is paid directly, at premiums above the market price.

  5. Processing, drying and cupping

The coffee is processed —washed, honey or natural, depending on the lot— and sun-dried on raised African beds. Before it is sold, every lot is cupped under SCA protocol.

  6. From the mill to the container

At the processing mill the parchment is hulled and the green coffee is bagged. From there it goes straight into the container, with no intermediate handling, bound for the Port of Callao.

Direct trade: we pay each grower with no middlemen and at premiums above the market price. That is what sustains the quality of the lot you buy.

How we work

Sourcing at origin

We work with agroecological grower cooperatives and associations in the Selva Central and with our own and partner farms. If you need a profile we don't list, we look for it among them and tell you straight whether we can deliver.

Verifiable quality

Every lot is cupped under SCA protocol before shipment. Export line 80–84 points; specialty lots 84–87. Grade 1, with cupping samples before any contract.

Traceability to the container

Every lot keeps its origin: grower, altitude, variety and process. For organic lots the certification is held at origin and traceability runs from the farm to the container: the processing mill loads it straight in. The farms are organic certified; Flor de Altura as a company is in the process of certification.

Direct trade

We pay growers directly, with no middlemen, at premiums above the market price. Their coffee is grown without agrochemicals, on organic-certified farms.

Export

FOB Callao by sea —LCL from 40 bags or FCL at 415 quintales per 20-foot container— and by air. We sell by the quintal and have experience exporting to the United States and Europe.
