About Rosa Mateo's Farm

Rosa Mateo's farm is in Perené, Chanchamayo, in Peru's Selva Central. There she grows Catuai Arabica at 1,750 meters above sea level, organically, in the warm and humid climate of the region's highlands. Her coffee is wet-processed (washed) and cups at 84 SCA points.

The story of Rosa Mateo's Farm

Rosa Mateo is one of the smallholder growers of the Selva Central that Flor de Altura works with. Her plot is in Perené, in the highlands of Chanchamayo, above the 1,500 meters where Arabica coffee ripens slowly and concentrates sweetness and acidity.

Her washed Catuai lot cupped at 84 SCA points: coffee blossom over a base of chocolate and nuts, hints of cinnamon and citrus, bright acidity, medium body and a fruity finish. For the Peruvian market Flor de Altura roasts it medium and packs it in Pichanaqui with the grower's name on the label, so every bag can be traced to the farm it came from. For export it is sold as green coffee: the processing mill loads it straight into the container.
